 Lip Color Guide

It isn't easy to find the perfect lip color. And there's good reason for that. There isn't any one that's perfect. The"perfect" color & sheen tends to change with moods, seasons, occasions, time of day & age.

Below you will find information that will help you choose the which colors, shades & sheens might work best with your particular situation.

The best way to approach choosing a lipstick is to start with a clean face so that you can accurately assess the natural color of your lips. An easy choice from here is to find a color that is the same color as your natural color but one shade darker.

Choosing a Shade

Pale Lips Natural colors such as beige, pale pinks, beighish pinks
Medium Shade Lips Roses & soft browns
Darker Lips Raisin shades
Dark Brown or Purple Lips Deep browns & blackberry shades

Choosing a Sheen

Matte Can be drying but is long-lasting. Think matte & moist. Dramatic in darker shades.
Sheer Forgiving. Great for those who prefer a more natural look. A lip "stained" look.
Shimmer The shimmer diffuses a darker color so great for experimentation.
Gloss Helps the lips look fuller. Can use in layers over other lip colors.
Balm Many come with SPF, which is great for the outdoors. Use a lip pencil to add color.
